7 Daily Habits For A Clean and Tidy Home
So you want to keep a clean and tidy home and you just aren’t sure how? Create and practice these 7 daily habits. They absolutely work to keep your home clean and tidy every single day.
I’m still a big believer in getting the whole family involved in keeping up with the daily tasks. Chore charts are amazing for the kids. I wrote about this many years ago. If you missed that post, you can read it HERE.
I have some FREE printable chore charts in our printable library. If you aren’t a VIP member yet, sign up today to get instant access to our entire free printable library.
Here are a couple of my favorite chore charts for kids:
You can find many chore charts in my SHOP. I’ve been using these for years, and they work very well for us. If you have a different chore chart system that works better for your family, I say, go with what works for you.
Keep a clean home with these 7 daily habits.
1. Make The Beds
Start your day by making the bed. This is one of the first things that I do each day.
Teach your children to make their beds too, add it to their daily chores.
2. Load of Laundry a Day
Do a load (or 2) of laundry every day. Wash, dry, fold and put away. I like to keep things neat and orderly, and I don’t like to put clean clothes away in the bedrooms every day, so I use baskets in the laundry room for clean, folded clothes.
When I designed my last house, I designed these shelves for the clean clothes baskets, but I have used this system in every home that I’m in. No matter if I have built in shelves or not. If I don’t have shelving for the baskets, I’ve used a cube organizer and even a small bookcase.
3. clean the Kitchen
Clean up after meals, wipe the counters and do the dishes. Tip: unload in the morning, load dishes throughout the day and put the dishes washing in the evening. Another tip: Take everything off the front of your fridge, it makes the kitchen look so much cleaner.
4. Sweep or Vacuum
Sweep or vacuum the kitchen and the main areas of your home.
5. Empty Trash
Empty the trash cans from the bathrooms, bedrooms, laundry room and kitchen.
6. Manage Paper
Take care of mail, bills, magazines, school papers, receipts and any other paperwork that piles up on the counters.
And last, but not least…
7. Straighten Up
Take some time each day to keep each room picked up. Put away jackets, clothes, shoes, toys and anything else that is just hanging around. You can do this as you go or set a specific time in the morning or evening or both. If it helps, set a timer.
There you have it. Hope these 7 daily habits help you create a clean and tidy home.
